Fisher Freeward 25, 1974, £9,000
Nexus is a Fisher Freeward 25, built in 1974, with a simple Bermuda rig and large open cockpit with tiller steering. I bought her in 2020 as a bigger, more capable replacement for a day boat and have sailed her extensively, often single handed, around the Solent, Poole Bay and Weymouth Bay. With previous owners she completed several Round the Island races.
The Beta BD1005 three cylinder 28hp engine, fitted new in 2007, has been serviced this winter and always starts on the first turn of the key. A new gearbox and propeller were fitted this winter.
The fully battened white mainsail and white furling genoa were made by Moatt Sails in 2020. The stackpack sail cover and lazy jacks were supplied by Sanders Sails in 2015.
The interior is basic but functional. There is a working 2 ring gas hob, sea toilet, 12v charging point, interior lights, navigation/anchor lights, VHF aerial and full set of tatty old cushions. I have removed the cabin linings and painted the interior white.
Nexus is offered for sale at £9,000 with all necessary equipment including:
Depth and speed instrument (Clipper Duet 2021)
Sheets, mooring lines and spare ropes
Fenders
CQR anchor, chain and warp
Wooden whisker pole
Horseshoe safety buoy, in-date flares and in-date fire extinguishers
Aluminium boat hook
Heavy duty galvanized steel beach legs
She is on hard-standing at Portland Harbour, has 2 new coats of antifouling and will be launched in early April. I am happy to deliver her by sea anywhere on the south coast.
