The FOA also has local onshore social events where members can meet and exchange their sailing news, discuss future passages and maybe share those candid photographs - just when you thought you had got away with it!

Bryan was Rear Commodore Southwest & West for many years and he was our expert in all things legal and administrative. A truly lovely gentleman, he brought his own style to the leadership of the region; for those of you lucky enough to have joined in with Bryan’s ‘Rallies à la Carte’ and ‘Noggin & Natters’ social events ashore, you will know what lovely people were found in Bryan and Ellie. With Ellie in full support, he quietly made things happen for his FOA region.
Who will ever forget his wonderful terminology for things to do with our little ships?
‘Fisher Fettling’ is the one that I will always remember and I use quite regularly. I have changed the new website’s ‘Knowledge Base’ title to ‘Fisher Fettling’ in Bryan’s memory. The fact that a number of articles in the section were produced by Bryan is enough to warrant this change. His skills especially at woodwork were legendary.
Bryan handed over his Rear Commodore flag to Andrew Thompson about 18 months ago but continued joining in with the region activities.
Thank you Bryan for all your hard work and support over the many years of FOA membership; you are already sorely missed.
