NEPTUNE 80 Rally June 1-9 2024
Normandy France
Briefing Friday 8 March at the Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club, 1930hrs
I just received a request to post the NEPTUNE 80 Rally Flotilla as seen today.
You will notice that there are a few spaces left available, so if you would like to join in, please email me at
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we can start the ball rolling.John Gunn and George Thomson, I have you both still on the list as I am hopeful you can both join in.
There will be a briefing on Friday 8 March at the Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club, starting around 1930. All are welcome. There will be a paper hand out on the evening
I will be sending you all a briefing notes file on completion by email, including any Q&A we will have had on the evening. I will also post the information on the FOA website and pass it to Richard and Clare for proper inclusion on FSMBC website.
I intend promulgating a proper Oporder NEPTUNE80 at the end of April (latest) which will have the appropriate forms and links, plus tidal information and anything else I can add.
Barbara and I had a great week visiting Ouistreham and Caen, talking with officials in both cities and of course the marina manager for Ouistreham and Bassin St Pierre (Caen) Marinas.
We also went and had a session with the Colonel in Command of the Calvados region Gendarmerie.
To round it off we then had a pleasant meeting with Caen YC who are looking forward to seeing us all.
They have small fleet of racing boats which they use on the Canal de Caen and they have invited us to race with them on the second weekend, along with a reception at the club.
There will be more to announce but I am waiting on confirmation from the authorities.
Suffice it to say that there will be loads to do and see and ‘discretionary time’ for you (ie I am not trying to fill every day with activities.)
One thing came to light: having been guided by our friends in Caen and have met and spoken to all the RIGHT people, it revealed that no other sailing association has taken the effort to do this. I have been working on this for the last 18 months and I think we achieved more being on the ground doing the face to face thing over 5 days than the rest of the time working on this.
Anyway, below is the latest list for NEPTUNE 80.
Please could you help me fill in any gaps.
So if you could let me know:
