Location: Tarbert Muster
Dates: Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th July 2021.
THE TRADITIONAL BOAT FESTIVAL is NOT being held this year at Tarbert.
I have however spoken with The Tarbert Harbour Master who will welcome a Fisher Muster on the same dates that would have been allocated to the Traditional Boat Festival.
Our FOA region have participated in the Boat show for a number of years and enjoyed ever increasing support, culminating in an evening meal in the Islay Frigate hotel attended by over 20 skippers and partners.
I do hope many local members will join in the muster. Please let me know, without commitment, if you hope to be there. Subject to numbers I’ll try and arrange “happy hours” and the like.
The Tarbert Traditional Boat Festival is more than a display of traditional boats. It’s become a “go to” destination. Tourist and visitors from a wide area visit to admire the boats but also to participate in wide ranging activities from raft racing to tackling the greasy pole. Marquees, music, a multitude of stalls, community BBQs and a Ceilidh are followed by a Sail Past on Loch Fyne.
We were pleased to be invited to participate last year and more so again this year. Our six participating Fishers were offered prominent berthing positions last year. We are hopeful of requiring additional berths this time round.
I will forward more information re this year’s event as and when received from the organisers.
Organiser: Harvey Bernard, Rear Commodore Scotland and North.
